Recently, the 8MW-class marine lightweight reduction gearbox jointly developed by China Shipbuilding 703 Research Institute and Harbin Guanghan Power Transmission Co., Ltd. This equipment not only represents a major breakthrough in domestic marine gearbox technology, but also marks a new height in my country’s high-power marine power transmission equipment field. As an advanced power transmission equipment developed specifically for medium-sized ships, the gearbox adopts a lightweight design, has a highly integrated auxiliary equipment installation solution, and supports multiple PTO (power output) functions. Its complex structure and high-precision design requirements make research and development extremely difficult.

During the research and development process, the 703rd Institute played its core technical advantages in system design and integrated optimization, and worked with Guanghan Transmission Company to solve several key design problems after multiple rounds of program demonstration and technical research, and finally successfully developed the product.   2. Complex process achieves high precision: The core structure of the gearbox consists of a gear transmission system, a housing, bearings, a friction clutch, and a turning/locking device. In the production of gearboxes, Guanghan Transmission Company has overcome many processing and assembly problems through three-level precision tooth component processing, sliding bearing processing, and friction clutch manufacturing.
  3. Strict reliability testing: After a comprehensive operation test and a 200-hour reliability test, all performance indicators fully meet the design requirements, reflecting the product’s excellent stability under long-term high-load conditions.

Innovative Process Breakthroughs and Technological Breakthroughs

During this development process, Guanghan Transmission Company has made a series of important breakthroughs in the manufacturing process of key components. Among them, the inner gear ring of the friction clutch is an important component of the reduction gearbox, and its processing is extremely difficult: large diameter, thin gear wall, strict precision requirements and easy deformation during heat treatment. To meet this challenge, Guanghan Transmission Company successfully completed the manufacturing and processing of the fourth-level precision inner gear ring by optimizing the process route and innovating production technology, breaking through this key technical bottleneck that restricts the performance of lightweight gearboxes.
